Reunion of the 5th January, 2016
Dear Old Victorian,
The year 2016 was launched with one of the most valuable talks ever given in the history of the Association’s Reunions.
The January Reunion was held on Tuesday the 5th at the prestigious Diplomatic Club in downtown Cairo and it was attended by over 50 persons including spouses and guests.
The guest speaker was Dr. Ahmed Darwish, Egypt’s former Minister of State for Administrative Development and presently Chairman of the General Authority for Suez Canal Economic Zone. The talk lasted for almost an hour and was followed by a 30 minute question and answer session. An insight of the history and future of the zone was given in details emphasizing that the present government bureaucracy will be something unknown for those who will be dealing with the zone authorities.
The zone project was born huge as it occupies an area over ten times that of Jabel Ali and will compete with giants like Singapore and Panama.
Dr. Darwish is a highly educated, experienced and intelligent person and being at the head of this project will definitely succeed in bringing much needed prosperity to our dear country.
A four course dinner was served after the talk and the Reunion ended at 11:00 p.m. with all looking forward to the next Reunion.
