Reunion of the 7th of November, 2018
Dear Old Victorian,
The November Reunion was held on the 7th at the Babylon room of the Semiramis Intercontinental Hotel and was attended by only 19 persons.
The speaker of the month was our colleague Dr. Hatem El Ayat (VCC 1960) who spoke about “Is Egypt ready for Nuclear Energy”. The talk was extremely enlightening to those who didn’t know much about Nuclear Energy. His presentation covered the history of nuclear plants, details of the largest three disastrous nuclear accidents which took place over the last 40 years and the need of strict safety precautions for nuclear plants. At the end of the talk he highlighted the major problem of Nuclear Waste (rarely mentioned) which is very costly and should be included in the cost and the feasibility of building nuclear plants.
Dinner was served at 9:15 p.m. with the Reunion ending at 10:30 p.m.
The Association would like its members to make an effort to attend the next Reunion which is scheduled for the 5th of December.
